Northern Regional Challenge

Congratulations to all 109 South Launceston athletes who braved the early poor weather and participated in what turned out to be a fun day.   Most athletes turned in a PB in one of the events and although we didn't run away with the Centre Challenge Shield, we will be back again in force next year.

More photos of the Centre Challenge Day are available from the link on the photos page.

Centre Records Updated

The centre records for both Youngtowm memorial Oval and St Leonards have been updated and are available for viewing on the records page.  Record breakers from 19th and 25th October are also listed on the records page.

Rio Tinto Alcan Tamar Valley Sporting Grant

During the closed season we were delighted to hear that SLLAC had been awarded the Rio Tinto Alcan Tamar Valley Sporting Grant for 2008 to the value of $2000. The application was made to purchase 7 gazebos to provide shelter from the sun for our athletes and officials competing in all athletic events at the centre. This grant will allow us to provide shelter at each of the field event sites as well as for officials recording results at the finish line. Members of the Community grants team at Rio Tinto Alcan presented athletes and officials with the cheque on our ground at South Launceston Football Club in June allowing us time to purchase the gazebos prior to the season commencing.
